The bus was late again this morning, so I walked to the station and bought a coffee on the way. The streets were quiet and the shops were still closed. By the time the train arrived, the sun was out and the city looked bright and clean. I found a seat by the window and read the news.

Ready. The timer starts with your first keystroke.

Questions

How is WPM calculated?

Every 5 correctly typed characters, spaces included, count as one word. That number is divided by the test length in minutes, so mistakes you leave in lower your WPM.

What is an average typing speed?

Most people type between 35 and 55 WPM. Touch typists who practice regularly often reach 70 WPM or more.

How is accuracy calculated?

Accuracy is the share of your keystrokes that matched the text. A typo still lowers it even if you fix it with Backspace.

Can I take the test on a phone?

Yes. Tap the text to open the keyboard. Phone keyboards are usually slower than a physical one, so compare results on the same device.
