This pulls out just the pages you need from a large PDF or breaks it into several files. There are four ways to split: one PDF made of the pages you select, a separate file for each range, equal parts, and one PDF per page.
It helps when you want to send only one chapter of a textbook, separate a batch scan so an office gets just the relevant page, or cut up a file that is too large for an email or an application form. The file is processed on your device.
How to use
- Drop the PDF on the page or press 'Choose PDF'. The pages appear as small previews under 'Pages'.
- Under 'Split by' choose 'Selected pages', 'Page ranges', 'Every N pages' or 'Every page'.
- With 'Selected pages' click previews or type into 'Pages to keep' something like '1-3, 5, 8-'; commas separate pages, a dash makes a range and '8-' means page 8 to the end. In 'Page ranges' typing '1-3, 4-6, 9' makes each range its own file. With 'Every N pages' enter a number under 'Pages per file'; the last file gets what is left.
- A line below says how many files will be made and how many pages there are in total. A wrong number shows 'Check the page numbers.'
- Press 'Split PDF'. A single result downloads as a PDF, several arrive in a ZIP.
When it helps
A school or an office may ask for only certain pages of a document. From a hundred-page scan you can pull the two that matter and upload just those. Invoices, statements or lecture notes scanned in one go can also be cut into separate files page by page.
If a big PDF is rejected as an email attachment, split it with 'Every N pages' and send the parts one by one. Taking one chapter out of a book to put on your phone is the same kind of job.
Tips
- Pages are copied as they are, so text stays selectable and image quality is unchanged. Bookmarks and links between pages do not carry over to the new files.
- When several files are made they all come in one ZIP. You need something that can open ZIP files, such as a file manager.
- Locked or protected PDFs cannot be edited here.
- Files over 200 MB can be slow or run out of memory.
- Page numbers follow the order in the file, not any number printed on the page. Check the previews to be sure you have the right ones.
