Merge PDF puts several PDF files into one document. You can take each file whole or only the pages you need, and you decide the order. The result is a single file with the pages laid out in the order of your list.
It suits anyone assembling an application pack, turning separately scanned documents into one attachment, bundling a month of invoices, or collecting lecture notes in one file. The work happens in your browser, and the files are not sent to a server.
How to use
- Drag your PDF files into the drop area, or use Choose PDFs to pick them from your device. Up to 50 files can be added.
- Each file shows up as a row with a small preview of its first page. Change the order by dragging rows, or with the Move up and Move down arrows.
- If you only want part of a file, type a range such as 1-3, 5 into the Pages box on its row. Leave it empty to use every page. A page number the file does not have makes the box show an error.
- Missing a file? Add it later with the Add more PDFs area. Remove takes a single row out, and Clear empties the whole list.
- Press Merge PDFs. When it finishes, the same button becomes Download and the merged file is saved to your computer.
When it helps
A job or scholarship application often means an ID copy, a diploma and a transcript scanned as three files, while the portal accepts one. Put them in order, merge, and upload. The same goes for any institutional portal that asks for a single PDF attachment.
Someone handing invoices to an accountant at month end can keep just the first page of each invoice by using the Pages box and leave out the pages with terms and conditions. Students can merge summaries from different courses into one file before printing.
Tips
- Password-locked or edit-protected PDFs cannot be merged. Remove the protection in the app that made the file and add it again.
- Pages are copied as they are, so text stays selectable. Bookmarks and fillable form fields do not carry over to the merged file.
- Files over 200 MB can be slow or run out of browser memory. If you have many large files, merge them in smaller groups first.
- If a file is damaged its row shows an error, and you need to remove that row before merging can go on.
- A page range is applied in the order you type it. 5, 1-3 gives page five first and then the first three pages, and 8- takes page eight through the last.
