PDF to JPG turns the pages of a PDF into images. You can take every page or only the ones you pick, as JPG or PNG. Resolution is 72, 150 or 300 dpi, and for JPG the quality can be set from 10 to 100.

It helps when you want to share a presentation slide on social media, upload an image of an invoice to a form, put a scanned page into a system that asks for pictures, or hand pages to a program that can't take a PDF. The file stays on your device.

How to use

  1. Drop the PDF in the area or open it with Choose PDF. If it has a password, a This PDF is locked box appears: type the password and press Unlock.
  2. The pages show as thumbnails in a grid. Click the ones you want, or use All and None. You can also type a range such as 1-3, 5, 8- in the Pages box.
  3. Choose JPG or PNG under Format and 72, 150 or 300 dpi under Resolution. With JPG a JPG quality slider appears. For your settings, the pixel Width and Height of the first selected page are shown.
  4. Press Convert. While it works you see progress like Converting 2 of 5, and Stop cancels it if needed.
  5. When it finishes, you get Download for a single image or Download all for several. More than one image comes as a ZIP file.

When it helps

72 dpi is enough for the screen and keeps files small. 150 dpi is a balanced choice for reading and sharing. Pick 300 dpi for printing or when small text has to stay sharp, but expect larger images and a longer wait.

JPG gives smaller files for pages with photos and for scans. PNG is the better choice for text-heavy or line-drawing pages that need to stay crisp. It is handy for things like sending a page of lecture notes in a message or dropping a slide into a document as a picture.

Tips

  • Converting a large multi-page PDF at 300 dpi is slow and uses a lot of memory. Select only the pages you need.
  • If some pages come out smaller than you asked for, the tool says so; that is the largest size this browser can draw.
  • The password is only used to open the file in your browser, and it is not sent anywhere.
  • Your format, resolution and JPG quality choices are remembered in your browser for next time.
  • The resulting images are pictures, so the text on the page is no longer selectable.

Questions

Are my files uploaded?

No. The pages are drawn and saved in your browser and the PDF never leaves your device.

Which resolution should I choose?

72 dpi gives screen-sized images and the smallest files, 150 dpi suits reading and sharing, and 300 dpi is for printing. Higher values make bigger images and take longer.

JPG or PNG?

JPG makes smaller files and suits photos and scans. PNG is lossless and keeps sharp text and line drawings clean.

Can I convert a password-protected PDF?

Yes, if you know the password. Type it when asked. It is only used to open the file in your browser.
