The CV maker builds a ready CV beside the form as you fill it in, and lets you download it as a PDF. There is no sign-up, watermark or payment step. A first-year student writing a first CV and someone who has not updated theirs in years use it the same way.
Your details stay on your device. The draft is kept in this browser only, so you can continue where you left off later.
How to use
- In Personal details enter Full name, Job title, Email, Phone, Location, Website and LinkedIn. If you like, add a photo with Add photo and choose a Square or Round shape.
- Fill in Summary, Experience, Education, Skills, Languages, Certificates, Projects and References. Use buttons such as Add job, Add school and Add project for new entries. A section you do not need can be deleted with Remove.
- Use Move up and Move down to change the order. For a job you still hold, tick I work here now and the end date shows Present.
- Under Layout choose the Classic, Sidebar or Compact template, an accent colour and the text size. The Preview tab shows the page as it will look and how many pages it takes.
- Press Download PDF. The browser's print window opens. Choose the save as PDF option there and turn off headers and footers.
- Under Your data, Export JSON backs up your information and Import JSON restores it.
When it helps
When you apply for jobs, you often have to send a slightly different CV for each posting. Because the draft is saved, adjusting the summary and skills for a role and exporting a new PDF takes a few minutes. For internships, part-time jobs and a first application, the template layout saves you from staring at an empty page.
If you apply abroad, remember that whether to include a photo depends on the country. Sections such as References, Certificates and Projects are useful for showing experience, particularly in software, design and technical fields.
Tips
- Keep standard headings such as Experience and Education, write dates in one format, and add keywords from the job posting to your skills.
- The PDF contains real, selectable text, which applicant tracking systems can read.
- Before you move to another device or clear browser data, make a backup with Export JSON. Clear all deletes everything, photo included.
- Photos vary by country. They are common in Turkey and much of Europe, but usually left out for applications to the US, UK and Canada.
- Before sending your CV, open the PDF and check the margins and anything that spills over to the next page.
