WebP to PNG

Drop images here

WebP images, or any other image format. Files stay on this device.

Output format

This tool turns WebP images into PNG files. If you are stuck with an editor that cannot open WebP, an older Office version or an upload form that rejects it, PNG is almost always accepted. PNG also keeps transparency, which makes it the usual choice for logos and icons with a see-through background.

The conversion runs inside the page, in your browser. It suits anyone preparing product images, making a presentation or putting a saved icon into a document.

How to use

  1. Drag images onto the Drop images here area, or press Choose images and select files. You can add several WebP files at once.
  2. Conversion starts automatically once files are added. Each row shows its progress and the result when it finishes.
  3. Because the output is PNG, there is no Quality slider; the file is written losslessly. The transparency of a transparent WebP stays as it is.
  4. Use the Download button on a finished row to save one file. With several files, Download all gives you a single ZIP.
  5. If you added a wrong file, press Remove on its row; Clear empties the whole list.
  6. The Add button lets you put more images into the list.

When it helps

When you want to place a WebP logo or icon with a transparent background into a Word document or a PowerPoint deck, PNG is the safest option. Likewise, if a design program will not open WebP, converting to PNG and uploading that solves it.

For screenshots and graphics with sharp edges, PNG gives a cleaner result than JPG, with no blurring around text and lines. Photos, on the other hand, are often larger as PNG than as WebP, so choose it knowingly.

Tips

  • You can add up to 50 images at a time. Extra files are not added and the tool tells you so.
  • PNG is lossless, but a WebP that was saved with loss has already lost detail, and converting does not bring it back.
  • PNG files are often larger than the WebP originals. If only size matters, you may not need to convert.
  • Very large images may be scaled down where needed. If a row says it was scaled, the saved file has smaller dimensions than the original.
  • Files are not uploaded; they stay on this device. PNG carries no EXIF data, and colours are converted to sRGB.

Questions

How do I convert WebP to PNG?

Drop your WebP files on the page or choose them. They are converted to PNG at once, and you can download them one by one or all together as a ZIP.

Does WebP to PNG keep transparency?

Yes. PNG supports transparency, so a transparent WebP stays transparent.

Is the conversion lossless?

The conversion adds no loss, but a WebP saved in lossy mode has already lost some detail and PNG cannot bring it back.

Are my photos uploaded?

No. The conversion runs in your browser and nothing is sent to a server. The PNG has no EXIF data, and colors are converted to sRGB.
