The HEIC to JPG converter turns the HEIC photos that iPhones and iPads use by default into JPG, which everyone can open. When you cannot open a photo on a Windows computer, cannot upload it to a form, or a friend cannot open it, this tool fixes the problem.
The conversion happens in your browser and the photos never leave your device. You can add several photos at once.
How to use
- Drop the HEIC photos on the page or pick them with the Choose images button. On an iPhone you can choose them from Photos.
- Under Output format, JPG is already selected. You can also pick PNG or WebP.
- Use the Quality slider to balance file size against appearance. A background colour can be set for JPG, though HEIC photos rarely need it.
- Conversion starts on its own. The rows show the converted images and their sizes.
- Press Download on a row to take one, or Download all to take everything.
- Remove takes out a file you added by mistake, and Add lets you bring in more. Up to 50 files can be added.
When it helps
The most common case is photos moved from an iPhone to Windows that will not open. Windows cannot open HEIC unless the extensions from the Microsoft Store are installed. Converting a photo to JPG means you do not have to install anything extra.
The upload forms of schools, banks, government sites and job application systems often reject HEIC as well. Converting to JPG and uploading that gets past the obstacle. It also makes photos you send by email or message open on any recipient's device.
Tips
- To make the phone save JPG from the start, open Settings, Camera, Formats and choose Most Compatible.
- Conversion re-encodes the picture, so EXIF data such as camera model and location is not in the JPG, and colours are converted to sRGB.
- If a very large photo hits the browser's limit, it is scaled down when saved and a note appears on the row.
- JPG, PNG, WebP, AVIF, GIF and BMP files can be added to the same window as well.
- If a file cannot be read, an error shows next to it and the other files are not affected.
